Warren Buffett Quotes

Welcome to my Warren Buffett quotes page. I highly admire this multi billionaire investor. He has accomplished great things and he has kept his humility.

He gives away large chucks of his fortune for worthy purposes and even when he dies most of his mega fortune will go to these causes. The focus, persistence and determination it must have required to get to his level is amazing. I want to have just half the traits he has. Here is to a very inspiring man!

  • A public-opinion poll is no substitute for thought.
  • If past history was all there was to the game, the richest people would be librarians.
  • It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction.
  • I don't have a problem with guilt about money. The way I see it is that my money represents an enormous number of claim checks on society. It's like I have these little pieces of paper that I can turn into consumption. If I wanted to, I could hire 10,000 people to do nothing but paint my picture every day for the rest of my life. And the GNP would go up. But the utility of the product would be zilch, and I would be keeping those 10,000 people from doing AIDS research, or teaching, or nursing. I don't do that though. I don't use very many of those claim checks. There's nothing material I want very much. And I'm going to give virtually all of those claim checks to charity when my wife and I die.
  • There seems to be some perverse human characteristic that likes to make easy things difficult.
  • I always knew I was going to be rich. I don't think I ever doubted it for a minute.
  • Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing.
  • Never invest in a business you cannot understand.
  • It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.
  • The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect... You need a temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd or against the crowd.
  • The business schools reward difficult complex behavior more than simple behavior, but simple behavior is more effective.
  • Always invest for the long term.
  • Why not invest your assets in the companies you really like? As Mae West said, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful.
  • Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.
  • You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong.
  • You are neither right nor wrong because the crowd disagrees with you. You are right because your data and reasoning are right.

Thanks for passing by my Warren Buffett quotes page. This man is an amazing business man and human being. Here is to your life and success!
